Worker training is a central to requirements of the OSH Act of 1970. It explicitly states in the construction standard (29 CFR 1926.21) that “The employer shall instruct each employee in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe conditions and the regulations applicable to his work environment to control or eliminate any hazards or other exposure to illness or injury.” Site specific or orientation training is to be provided to worker on all subjects where there are potential hazards as well as when standard specific training is required.  Pyramid Safety & Health Solutions can provide training on construction related topics ranging from lead in construction, confined space entry, fire safety, fall prevention, flag person training, hazardous exposures including asbestos awareness, personal protective equipment, and respiratory protection.

In New York City the Department of Buildings have their own requirements to train on topics such as concrete safety, scaffold safety, cranes and various safety personnel trainings. Pyramid Safety & Health Solutions have partners that can provide these NYC required trainings and our OSHA Authorized Construction Safety and Health Trainers for OSHA 10 and 30-hour classes can train at your jobsite.

Beginning on March 1, 2018, New York City's  Local Law 196 of 2017 mandates that workers on NYC construction sites which require a Site Safety Plan, Construction Superintendent, Site Safety Manager, or Site Safety Coordinator are required to have a minimum of a 10 hrs OSHA class and by May 1, 2019 when fully implement a total of 40 hours of training or permit holder risk violations with penalties of up to $5000 per instance of non-compliance.

Firms performing renovations, repairs and painting in homes, childcare facilities and preschools built before 1978 are require to receive RRP training by an EPA-approved provider if they disturb lead-based paint.   Staff of residential property such as handymen, and superintendents along with general contractors and specialty trades persons such as painters, plumber carpenter and electrician performing related interior work where negative lead paint status has not been determined are required to be trained. The training highlights the requirement to document that dwellers were provided with information pamphlets; work practice requirement such as not using heating guns, and the recordkeeping/reporting requirements of the standard.

Pyramid Safety & Health Solutions in combination with Atwater and Associated can perform onsite training for your staff and provide documentation of training which is good for five years. With sufficient notice EPA Risk Assessor, Inspector and Dust wipe technician training can also be arranged.

General Safety Training

Safety and health training is also mandated for workers in General Industry occupational settings including medical facilities, hotels, nursing homes, factories etc. For instance, in the hotel industry room attendants have the highest rates of injuries compared to all other jobs in the accommodations industries.

Pyramid Safety & Health Solutions Inc. have provided targeted trainings services to one of the largest providers of cleaning personnels to NYC hotels.  Beside reducing worker injuries and the associated cost, the training also helps to increase worker retention in an industry notorious for high rates of turnover. The safety training also impacts worker morale and in turn work quality as their concerns are addressed and improvements are made.

Healthcare workers face many workplace hazards that include bloodborne pathogens and biological hazards, potential chemical and drug exposures, waste anesthetic gas exposures, respiratory hazards, ergonomic hazards from lifting and repetitive tasks, laser hazards, workplace violence, hazards associated with laboratories, and radioactive material and x-ray hazards according to OSHA. Medical office employees in dental clinics, optometry and various independent medical practitioners also experience some of these hazards while on the job. Pyramid Safety & Health solutions can provide general industry training as well as the required NYS Department of Health infection control training that is required every five years.
