2018 Safety Training Requirements

2018 Safety Training Requirements

There is an important new NYC law administered by the Department of Buildings that may affect your construction business. As of March 1st, NYC DOB requires that all workers and supervisors are to be minimally OSHA 10hr trained on NYC construction projects that require a site safety plan (including a construction superintendent).

Beginning March 1, 2018, many building construction workers must have 10 hours of safety training. Pursuant to Local Law 196 of 2017, by that date, you must be able to show that you have taken at least an OSHA10 class within the previous five years to continue working. When fully phased in by 2019, workers at job sites that require aSiteSafety Plan (which includes sites that must designate a Construction Superintendent, Site Safety Coordinator or SiteSafety Manager) must receive a minimum of 40 hours of training.
